Namaste Retailer of the Month:

MTV named Über Baby “the coolest store in the Midwest to shop at;” and it’s easy to see why when you walk through the door. Located in the hip new “West End” in Minneapolis, the store has a “funky and edgy” feel with custom-made displays providing shoppers a unique shopping experience. With this combination of fashion and funk, it’s not a surprise that it is the go-to source for shoppers searching for hip and cool products for children, as well as fashionable gifts and accessories for friends and family.
When co-founders and owners Lynne and Dan Gonsier were pregnant with their son in 2004, they saw a void in the market for edgy baby stuff. They opened Uber Baby to provide parents an interesting place to find hip baby products from clothes and accessories to furniture. Customers trying to find stylish gear for kids that even dads would wear won’t be disappointed. Lynne and Dan made sure to accommodate what they felt was an underserved audience. Shoppers will find that 70 percent of their lines are geared towards boys.
This month, Über Baby reopened at the “West End”, a brand new development featuring an outdoor mall with local boutiques, eateries, and wine bars. Über Baby is the only maternity and baby store at the location; and we are pleased that they are now carrying Namaste handbags!
“The great part about the Namaste bags is that there is no way people would even know it was a diaper bag,” said Lynne. Lynne says she sells most of the diaper bags simply because stylistically, they are great looking bags. The secret to a great diaper bag: “You don’t need tons of bells and whistles. You just need two or three things and that’s plenty.”
With a few moms here at Namaste (including co-founder Dawn Butler), we couldn’t agree more! Additionally, Namaste is currently working on some great baby-specific products including a multipurpose wipes case and a nifty changing pad- stay tuned!!!
